The Shiawassee County Health Department has been notified by the Mid-Michigan District Health Department that two residents who reside in Clinton County have tested positive for COVID-19. These individuals attended the Immanuel Baptist Church Spirit of 1776 Fireworks Display on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Immanuel Baptist Church is working with the Shiawassee County Health Department during this time and the church will be posting a statement on their website and Facebook page. Members of the public who attended the event should self-monitor for symptoms due to possible exposure.
Individuals should monitor themselves for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath. Individuals present at the event should also take precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19 by continuing to wear a mask when indoors in public, wash their hands often with soap and water, maintain 6 feet away from others, and stay home as much as possible for 14 days after the exposure.

“I strongly encourage county residents to take preventative measures from COVID-19 by wearing a mask when inside public places and maintaining 6 feet away from others. COVID-19 has not disappeared from our community, “ states Health Officer, Larry Johnson. “We all must continue to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19.”
If an individual has new or worsening signs or symptoms of COVID-19, individuals should speak with their healthcare provider and seek a COVID-19 test. Testing locations can be found by visiting the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services website at www.michigan.gov/coronavirustest.
