Meijer Temporarily Stops Accepting Cash At Self-Checkouts

Meijer has announced that it will temporarily stop accepting cash payments at self-checkout lanes due to a coin shortage in the United States.  The Coronavirus-related shortage is the result of less money moving through the economy, ABC 12 reports.

Meijer will continue to accept cash payments at staffed checkout lanes.  This modification, which will impact most of the chain's 250 stores, is being considered a temporary adjustment.

In the meantime, credit, debit, Bridge and gift cards will continue to be accepted in self-checkout lanes.

Shiawassee County Sheriff Brian BeGole said a crash that closed the westbound lanes of I-69 near the Corunna/Durand exit on Saturday was the result of a head-on crash that claimed the lives of two people.
