Update:
UPDATE: As of Friday July 3rd, 158 cases spread across 15 counties in Michigan have been connected to the outbreak at Harper's in East Lansing, the Detroit Free Press reported.

Original story:
An additional 51 cases of Coronavirus have been connected to an outbreak at Harper's Restaurant & Brew Pub in East Lansing since the first 14 cases were announced on Tuesday. That brings the total, to date, to 65.

Those numbers have contributed to higher statewide single-day increases over the past week as the United States has just this week seen its highest daily tally of new cases.

On Wednesday, across the country, more than 38,000 new cases were reported. The previous record single day total of 34,203 was set in April. Today, Michigan reported 389 new cases.

Ingham County health officials say only 44 of the 65 cases are Ingham County residents.

In its weekly report on Wednesday, Shiawassee County health officials said there were 245 positive cases and 26 deaths, but state data for Shiawassee County today indicates there are an additional 23 probable cases and an additional probable death, bringing the county total to 268 positive cases and 27 deaths.

We do not yet have information on whether any Shiawassee County cases are connected to the outbreak at Harper's but have reached out to the Shiawassee County Health Department to ask.

None of the people who attended Harper's have been hospitalized and ten are reported as asymptomatic.  Anyone that visited Harper's between June 12th and 20th is urged to be tested.

Governor Whitmer announced recently that she would hold on intentions to open the state up further.  She previously indicated she would like to move all of the state to Phase 5 of the six-phase MI SAFE START plan by July 4th.  That now seems less likely.  All of lower Michigan remains in Phase 4.

Meanwhile, some other states are beginning to see dramatic increases in Coronavirus cases recently.  Florida single-day cases topped 8,900 on Friday and Texas has closed down bars again, as that state's case count has begun to increase significantly lately.

LATEST STATE DATA:
Clinton County 214 cases (170 confirmed, 44 probable), 12 deaths
Eaton County 306 cases (232 confirmed, 74 probable), 7 deaths
Ingham County 954 cases (913 confirmed, 41 probable), 29 deaths
Shiawassee County 268 cases (245 confirmed, 23 probable), 27 deaths (26 confirmed, 1 probable)
State of Michigan 69,329 cases (62,695 confirmed, 6,634 probable), 6,134 deaths (5,888 confirmed, 246 probable)

LATEST WORLDOMETER DATA:
United States 2,538,867 cases, 127,299 deaths
Global 9,840,530 cases, 494,719 deaths
