A GoFundMe has been established to help raise funds for the historical village at McCurdy Park in Corunna.  Organizer Steven Bentley wrote:

"The Corunna Historical Village is in desperate need of funds for multiple restoration and maintenance projects to preserve this treasured gem in our very own backyard. The village is currently maintained by a handful of volunteers, mainly older senior citizens, and is a non-profit that operates completely separate from the city of Corunna. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the village lost the majority of its small, but essential donation opportunities such as: school field trips, private tours, the 4th of July open houses, and weddings in the historic church."

Bentley said the village has many needs but outlined specific pressing issues that need to be addressed.

Among the most urgent needs in the village:

○ Special rounded half-gutters for the Webster-Davis house ($2500 estimated cost) as water is destroying the wooden exterior.

○ Gould House: boards/siding desperately need to be replaced to preserve the beautiful home with new paint (estimated cost between $5,000-$10,000)

○ Many of the buildings in the village need to be power washed and repainted ($1,000 estimated cost with volunteers painting)

○ Church: a 5'x5' area of cement needs to be lifted or replaced to ensure safety ($1,000 estimated cost)

○ Lawn care items: we currently have one riding mower and one string trimmer for approximately 6 acres (volunteers mow) which can take up to 7 hours per week, plus gardening beautification.

Funds raised will go to Friends of the Corunna Historical Village of Shiawassee County.  The fundraiser hopes to collect $10,000.
