Scout Me In: Boys and Girls Invited to Join

Troop 455 - Shiawassee's Only Girls' Boy Scouts of America Troop Meets Wednesdays in Owosso

Scout Troop 455, Shiawassee County's only Girls' troop, meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8pm at the Owosso VFW. The group is looking for both boys and girls to join. Scouts BSA welcomes youth ages 11 to 18, Scout Master, Kari Walters told Corunna Now. Come out on Wednesday March 4th to learn more. The Owosso VFW Post 9455 is located at 519 S. Chipman.

The Boy Scouts of America Venturing program welcomes both boys and girls ages 14 to 21 to participate. Venture Crew 190 meets at Bancroft United Methodist Church on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 7 to 8:30pm and is also looking for new members. Walters said "it is quite a small group at this time and we are trying to grow that group also." Jeremy Braun, Head Scout Master for Troop 455, heads up Venture Crew 190.

Several businesses and organizations are partnering to open new dairy facilities near St. Johns. Glanbia, in a partnership with Dairy Farmers of America and Select Milk Producers, is working to build a nearly $500 million dollar plant north of St. Johns, and another company, Proliant Dairy Ingredients, an adjacent $85 million plant.
