The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for Shiawassee County beginning at 4am Saturday January 11th until 7am Sunday January 12th.

This is a serious and potentially life-threatening event.

The storm is expected to begin with heavy overnight rain, then temperatures will fall, and rain will be come freezing rain. A half inch of accumulation is likely, the latest forecasts are suggesting, and some areas could even see a full inch of accumulation. Some snow is also possible with this system, depending on your location.

The general storm overview calls for significant snow for northern lower Michigan, a mix of heavy rain, freezing rain and snow for mid-Michigan and significant heavy rain for southeast Michigan.
