Corunna VFW Auxiliary Holds Meeting, Elects Officers During Coronavirus Stay Home Order

On March 24th, Corunna VFW Post 4005 & Auxiliary announced all future activity would be suspended temporarily after Governor Gretchen Whitmer's "Stay Home. Stay Safe." Executive Order was issued the day prior, in response to the growing number of Coronavirus cases in the state.

That Executive Order was extended and remains in effect until at least May 15th, but on Tuesday May 5th, Corunna's VFW Ladies Auxiliary held a meeting at which it elected officers.

"The auxiliary successfully elected and installed the 2020-2021 officers at last nights meeting, great work ladies," a post on the organization's Facebook page announced on Wednesday morning.

When pressed in a reply by a community member about the group violating the Governor's order, member, Della Steege, said "We had 11 at the meeting and we stayed more than 6 feet apart, we wore masks and some had gloves. Lysol and Clorox wipes were available also. Safety measures were used to keep all safe."
