Protests against police brutality and racial injustice have spread across the world in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis two weeks ago.  While peaceful protests in many cities have been marred by looters, violence and rioting, last weekend, protests in Flint emerged as a beacon to the world of true unity, as law enforcement, allies and people of color walked together in protest against systemic racism that has plagued the country since its birth.  On Saturday, protestors filled Owosso city streets, and mid-Michigan, again, showed the world that black lives don't just matter; black lives are worthy, black lives are beloved and black lives are needed.

"Hundreds of people assembled to protest and the gathering was peaceful and well-organized," State Representative Ben Frederick wrote in a Sunday morning Facebook post.

"The site looks pristine this morning. More than that, attendees expressed a sense of camaraderie that will certainly inform how they approach individual relationships and their government. What could’ve been a moment of shame or embarrassment for this community is now one of pride and reflection. Well done, Owosso."
